Welcome to the World famous Tiki Bar, right here at the Sandpiper Beacon... This is where it all began! The Tiki Bar is located directly behind the hotel, overlooking the beach.
In 1999, a small group of bikers riders from the Macon, Georgia HOG chapter rode into Panama City Beach each year. The chapter of bikers had been coming for years, informally – but finally decided to make it a yearly event.
In the Spring of 1999, the Macon HOG chapter, along with Garry Hundley of the Sandpiper Beacon jointly organized the very first "Bike & Beach Bash" right here in the Tiki Bar - which later become known as "Thunder Beach".

Thousands of bikers flock to the Sandpiper Tiki Bar each year for the ULTIMATE Thunder Beach entertainment experience. The Tiki Bar has earned a reputation for having the best bands on the beach during bike week, and EVERYONE is invited! We have plenty of parking, plus drink specials all night.
It's not enough that the Tiki Bar has the greatest headline bands playing during Thunder Beach. We also want to make sure everyone can come and experience it. There's never a cover charge to get in, and everybody is welcome to join in and see the show - no matter where you are staying!

Not many hotels can offer bikers so much street-side / front-row parking. The Sandpiper has biker parking along the entire length of the Hotel, as well as lots of extra (convenient) parking lots across the street. We also have some (limited) trailer parking.
The Tiki Bar has a huge selection of domestic and imported beers from around the World. Not to mention, our bar staff know how to make a great drink, including our signature Tiki Punch.
The Tiki Bar is a great place to grab this year's official Thunder Beach rally T-Shirt, pin, badge, or other merchandise. We have an exclusive vendor village in our main parking lot across the street from the Hotel.
