You only have so many vacation days, therefore you have a limited number of meals. That makes it super important to make sure you get it right, and enjoy each one. Even the fussiest eater in your family probably has at least a sandwich they enjoy.

Panama City Beach has a great reputation for yummy seafood. Flaky and tender grouper sandwiches are a staple on pretty much all restaurant menus. Here is our list of places that serve grouper sandwiches that should be on your list next time you visit Panama City Beach

Locations for the Best Grouper Sandwiches in Panama City Beach, Florida

Coconut’s Restaurant

Conveniently located just across the street from the Sandpiper Beacon Beach Resort Coconuts is a local’s favorite. Serving what some consider the best breakfast on beach, Coconut’s is no slouch when it comes to a delicious sandwich. The fresh Gulf fish filet is every bit as delicious as it sounds. Unlike many places, you can also pick whether you’d like grouper or mahi-mahi. Served grilled or fried, you may need some napkins to help with the mouth watering.

Barefoot Hide A Way Grill

This place has a welcoming, relaxed vibe that makes you feel right at home. There’s nothing too fancy on the menu here, just a focus on juicy burgers and crispy fish. Locals and visitors all seem to swear by the Grouper Po’Boy. You can order it fried, grilled or blackened – or all three to see which one you like the most!

Dusty’s Oyster Bar

If you’ve been to Panama City Beach before, you’ve probably been to Dusty’s at least once. It’s a popular restaurant with a casual laid-back atmosphere. While they are known for their oysters, Dusty’s has been working on a sandwich reputation too. Enjoy fresh-caught fillets fried, grilled or blackened and served up in a po’boy roll. It’s affordable, tasty, and big enough that you won’t leave hungry.

Montego Bay Seafood House & Oyster Bar

Montego Bay is no newcomer to Panama City Beach as they have been serving locals and visitors since 1982. They have a Caribbean themed menu with a choice of spicy Jamaican-inspired recipes. This unique twist helps them stand out, but even they can’t resist offering a classic grouper sandwich. Unlike others, this comes on a toasted ciabatta bun with fresh salad. While they do offer the typical blackened or grilled options, we’d suggest being adventurous and trying the lemon-pepper or a Jamaican jerk rub.

J. Michael’s

The tastes at J.Michael’s take us further along the coastline to Louisiana. Serving seafood gumbo, plump shrimp sautéed in garlic butter, and spicy red beans and rice that are difficult to say no to. But we’re here to talk about their selection of handcrafted sandwiches, specifically the Fisherman’s Favorite. The star of this Panama City Beach sandwich is a plump grilled fillet of grouper served on a toasted onion roll with a slather of home made tartar sauce.

Schooners

Another Panama City Beach staple. There’s not much that the menu at Schooner’s doesn’t include, but do they have a great grouper sandwich? Yes, and they use locally caught grouper fillets that come fried, grilled or blackened and served tender and juicy on a fresh bun with lettuce and tomato. It’s simple, it’s classic and sometimes you can’t go wrong with just keeping it simple.

Sharky’s Beachfront Restaurant

Grilled, fried or blackened – that’s the only difficult decision you have to make when ordering this sandwich. Tartar comes on the side, and you can dress it however you like, with a mix of lettuce, tomato, red onions and pickles. Pile it up high and get lockjaw trying to bite it or keep it manageable. It’s up to you!

Hang Five Beach Bar & Grill

Hang Five is one of the new kids on the block in Panama City Beach. It’s located waterfront, and their fresh fish sandwiches come available in your choice of mahi-mahi or grouper. The tomato / shredded lettuce / onion topping may not surprise you, but the magic is in the gulf-spiced seasoning.
